Honoring Our Veterans

Throughout the year, the resident Veterans of our Wesley Village Veterans Committee lead us in recognizing, thanking, and supporting our Veterans and Veterans' Spouses, without whom the life and freedom we enjoy would not be possible.

Ceremonies are held at Wesley Village for every Veterans Day, honoring our current living Veterans; and for every Memorial Day, honoring our Veterans who have gone on to their heavenly reward, as well as all who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Every November, our main hall display board features the name, service branch, and (if available) service photo of all living resident Veterans. Every May, the board honors every Veteran who has passed on as a Village resident.

The Veterans Committee occasionally hosts additional events, often featuring guest speakers to grow our understanding of our military, or to offer support to our Veteran residents. These events are open to the public; look out for them on our Events Calendar.

On July 17th, 2018, residents, friends and family members gathered outside around a new flag circle and reflection area “dedicated in honor of all Wesley Village residents who served in our armed forces to preserve American freedoms.” The celebration included a Flag Dedication Service presented by Village Veterans.  Wesley Village CEO Glenda Creech recognized businesses who contributed services, materials and labor to this project: Brooks Electric Company, Inc.; Gooch Construction, Inc.; Pratt's Lawn & Landscape; and Nicholasville Monument Co.

This Veterans’ Memorial Plaza is just one more measure of the tremendous respect and admiration we have for the Greatest Generation we have served, and for our servicemen and servicewomen who’ve followed since.
